Andrew Lawrie

Director

Andrew graduated from Rhodes University in 2016 and has been with Schindlers ever since. Andrew quickly became a fixture in Schindlers' largest commercial litigation matters where he has proven invaluable. Andrew has also helped pioneer the Schindlers Medical & Recreational Cannabis department which has since remained an active and highly productive practice. He presently renders legal advice on all things cannabis/drug law through the Greenhouse Project, a collective of industry professionals working towards unlocking South Africa’s cannabis industry.

Paul-Michael Keichel

Director

Paul-Michael (“PM” - BA LLB, Rhodes) has been with Schindlers since 2010. Now partner, he is a commercial litigation specialist and general practitioner. He spearheaded the constitutional challenge against the laws prohibiting cannabis (dagga) use and possession in South Africa, which resulted in our famous 2018 judgment. He presently advises, albeit now through the Greenhouse Project, on all things cannabis/drug law and engages with major role players and government in our attempt to unlock South Africa’s cannabis industry, for the benefit of all of its citizens.

Pierre van der Hoven

Director

Pierre’s career started at the SABC where he held various financial and strategic positions. He then worked at RCI as Financial Director after which a 30-year serial entrepreneur journey began. Pierre was a founder and key player in setting up a number of media companies including eTV, YFM, Yarona FM, TBM Communications, SA Direct and Tuluntulu. Since 2016 Pierre has been increasingly focused on the Cannabis and Hemp industries closely monitoring international and local developments and identifying opportunities for Africa. In 2018 Pierre wrote a research report for the SA Government on the economic potential of cannabis and hemp for South Africa. Pierre is currently consulting in the industry, and is involved in a number of companies in the industry. Since late 2017 Pierre has worked extensively with numerous civil society stakeholders in the industry including the Cannabis Development Council (CDC), Traditional Healers Organisation (THO) and the African Cannabis Industry Association (ACIA). Pierre has consulted to various local and international companies and has delivered papers at various conferences including the following; The Cannabis Expo, VEXPO, Cannabis Expo (EL) and numerous local and international webinars.

Declan Burger

Director

Stepping straight into the medical regulatory industry following his entrepreneurial studies in Stellenbosch, over the last 5 years Declan has extensive hands-on experience in specialist regulatory solutions. From formal registrations of scheduled pharmaceutical medicines (S0 to S7 narcotics) to Section 21 Approvals for COVID-19 Rapid Test Kits, Declan has provided cost effective solutions to numerous international healthcare establishments resulting in a successful local presence. Through an appreciation for procedure development, Declan has created a stable service offering in license applications, and the extensive attachments, for most regulated activities under the medicines act, enabling companies and start-ups a foot in the door to the medical industry in an effort to unlock the potential in the local market.
